news culture The Last of Us: the HBO series will resume a cult passage from the game, proof in pictures
While we still have no video to put our teeth into, the television series The Last of Us continues to give news through photos, taken by third parties. Those of today show us a cult environment of the game.
Warning, spoilers may be found below if you haven’t completed The Last of Us.
The hospital, a well-known location from The Last of Us
The Last of Us series is still being filmed and no, it won’t happen this year. Enough to disappoint more than one impatient fan, but it must be said that HBO seems to want to do things particularly well: so far, the shooting photos show that the production wants to stick as much as possible to the first video game with familiar environments.
Among these, the Lucioles hospital, recently unveiled with new shots. This is simply Joel and Ellie’s main focus in the first game, the very place where Ellie must be taken in hopes of finding a cure for the epidemic. It’s also the very last level in the game, and those who’ve done it know how littered the building’s hallways are with corpses. It is also a real turning point in the storyline, where the fates of The Last of Us Part II will be created to intersect later.
A priori therefore, The Last of Us series should take up – or revisit – this cult scene, as painful as it is emotional. It only remains to see how…
An ambitious series
As a reminder, we can say without difficulty that the series The Last of Us is one of the most ambitious adaptations in history. It will be comprised of ten episodes and led by the people behind the critically acclaimed Chernobyl miniseries. Naughty Dog writer and director Neil Druckmann will also lend a hand with the writing, in order to convey a story faithful to the video game while filling in the gray areas. He will also direct an episode.
On the casting side, we therefore have Pedro Pascal (Narcos, The Mandalorian) in the skin of Joel and Bella Ramsey (Game of Thrones) in that of Ellie. A plethora of characters will of course be present: Bill (played by Nick Offerman, or Ron Swanson in Parks & Recreations), Tommy (Gabriel Luna, who played in Terminator Dark Fate), Tess (Anna Torve, known for her main role in the Fringe series) and so on.
See you in 2023 to see the result.
