news culture The Last of Us: The HBO series unveils new apocalyptic visuals!
We know that we probably won’t see HBO’s The Last of Us series until next year, but filming is continuing and, while waiting for a first trailer, we’re content with the few photos and videos of filming that we reach.
Warning, spoilers may be found below if you haven’t completed The Last of Us.
Waiting for the first trailer…
Mainly directed towards Calgary in Canada, series The Last of Us will largely adapt the plot of the game, but we already know that some liberties were taken, courtesy of Naughty Dog, to make the show more engaging. Still, until then, all the pictures we’ve seen fit perfectly with the game environmentswhile the characters are dressed the same way.
HBO therefore wishes stay as close as possible to the original material, and we know how risky the operation is. Among the most recent images that have leaked or been published is one depicting salt lake city hospital, in which the Fireflies, a group determined to find a cure for the infection, have settled. It is even of a very important place in The Last of Us, and which retains strong emotional value in The Last of Us Part II.
Unseen images from the series have been released!
But new photos have emerged, this time depicting the residential area in which Ellie and Joel meet Henry and Sam, two brothers who are also trying to survive. It is during this sequence that you have to go down the whole street, then grab a sniper rifle to protect our companions. A striking gameplay sequence, followed by a long narrative sequence which is no less. For those who have played the game, you will easily recognize the places, taken in photos by Sue_dothingalways and published on Twitter by the account The Last of Us HBO – Status.
The ambitions to match the success of the game?
The Last of Us by HBO will be a series consisting of 10 episodes, knowing that Neil Druckmann is present in the production, since he will be directing an episode and that he makes sure that everything is in line, especially in terms of writing. He notably works alongside Craig Mazin, the creator of the widely acclaimed Chernobyl series. Regarding the casting, we will find Pedro Pascal (Narcos, The Mandalorian) as Joel and Bella Ramsey (Game of Thrones) as Ellie.
Many characters will be present in the series, like Bill (Nick Offerman, Parks & Recreations), Tommy (Gabriel Luna, Terminator Dark Fate), Tess (Anna Torve, Fringe). We just have to be patient, and wait for HBO to reveal a first teaser to us, which would allow us to get a first idea of the direction that has been taken.
