Game News Sly Cooper: new clues about the return of a cult PlayStation saga
The Sly saga is definitely a much-loved PlayStation franchise, although its last installment has now been… quite a while. Nevertheless, the rumors around his return are really intensifying.
S-Lie to Me
It seems like an open secret, but let’s not claim victory too quickly: more and more rumors suggest that the Sly Cooper saga will indeed be revived by PlayStation. We had already had an insistent rumor last September (alongside the comeback of inFamous, another license precisely laid by Sucker Punch) and this one was back a few days ago, revived by the leaker Account NGT who seemed sure of his blow. He said in particular that the announcement of the new Sly could arrive at the same time as a PlayStation event in March, which would be formalized very soon.
This event is precisely the State of Play which has just been confirmed by Sony and which will be held this evening: this brings real credibility to the Internet user (who was also good about the delay of Forspoken). Will we be entitled to the highlighting of Sly 5, today? Also according to Account NGT and its source, the announcement would finally be made… during the second half of 2022.
According to a source, for Sly, they are aiming for a reveal for the second half of 2022. Which makes sense since later this year is Sly’s 20th anniversary. https://t.co/TsO3nf8Ofx

Sly, a not so discreet thief
To consolidate these murmurs, another rather intriguing clue has just been spotted by a Reddit user: he realized that the domain name of Sly Cooper had been renewed on March 4th. This coincides with all the rumors at the moment and could well mean that, yes, Sony is planning something on the sly. And as a bonus, the franchise will mark its 20th anniversary in 2022.
Sly Cooper was a series developed by Sucker Punchthe studio behind inFamous and Ghost of Tsushima, whose first opus presented itself on PlayStation 2 in 2002. Two other suites were released on this same machine, respectively in 2004 and 2005, forming a cult trilogy for many alongside those of Ratchet & Clank and Jak & Daxter. A whole era.
A fourth episode, called Sly Cooper: Thieves through Time, finally saw the light of day years later in 2013, on PS3. This one had been made in particular by Sanzaru Games (Sonic Boom: The Broken Crystal and Fire and Ice on 3DS).
If Sly is truly back, will he be through a brand new adventure, a full-fledged remake or… a reboot?
