It seems that the sequel to Death Stranding is indeed on the way according to the interpreter of Sam Bridges.
It has been many months since death stranding is subject to multiple rumors, the vast majority of which are related to its alleged sequel in development. If nothing has ever been formalized by Sony or Hideo Kojima, it seems that the main actor of the game has decided otherwise. In an interview with the site LeoNorman Reedus referred to death stranding and simply said:
“We just started the second.”
No more possible doubts, death stranding 2 is therefore well and truly on the way according to the actor. As a reminder, Norman Reedus embodies the transporter Sam Bridges in this post-apocalyptic game, which many have compared to a UPS of the future. Both innovative on many points, but also not very entertaining on others, death stranding had left a mixed feeling to the players who have since dropped the game quite quickly.
A few months ago, Sony released a version Director’s Cut of the title, which included new game modes, but above all many improvements, both visually and in terms of performance. But this one didn’t make much noise either. The sequel is therefore more or less expected, with players having some apprehension about picking up the story where Hideo Kojima left off.
A project attractive enough to make a sequel
Besides that, Norman Reedus explains in the interview how he came to do motion capture for Death Stranding:
“Guillermo Del Toro, who gave me my first film, called me and said, ‘there’s a guy called Hideo Kojima, he’s going to call you, just say yes to him’. I said, ‘How do you say yes?’ He replied, ‘Stop fooling around, say yes. Then I went to San Diego and Hideo came over with a bunch of people, and he showed me what he was working on on a game called Silent Hill. I was blown away by what he showed me, and I was like, ‘Yeah, let’s do it. It’s not Ms. Pacman; it’s so realistic, it’s so futuristic, it’s so complicated and beautiful.”
If we can only easily imagine the difference between Ms Pacman and death stranding, it didn’t take much for Norman Reedus to be convinced. For the moment we don’t know anything about the plot of the next opus and Sony hasn’t confirmed anything yet. In addition, nothing says for the moment that the sequel will still be a PlayStation exclusive. We must therefore remain on the lookout.
