news tip League of Legends: the 3 most feared champions by pro players
MSI games have been over for almost a month now and the competition has finally been able to resume for this second half of the year. While the ways to play and the champions selected are still vastly different between professionals and just everyday League of Legends players, it’s always good to observe which characters dominate the competitive scene.
The return of professional competition after the end of the MSI (Mid-Season Invitational) was eagerly awaited this year by League of Legends players. Indeed, contrary to his habits, Riot Games decided not to wait until the in-between seasons to introduce a major gameplay change to their game, as Update 12.10 buffed absolutely every champion in Summoner’s Rift. Such a modification inevitably brings its share of adaptations in the strategies hitherto implemented by professional players, and it is now time to discover what the future matches of the competitive scene of League of Legends will look like. During the 12.11 update, three champions stood out in the pros. We show you which ones.

The strength of the Trinity
In each phase of competition, there are always champions who stand out, even who find themselves in one way or another in absolutely all games.. To calculate what is called the “Presence rate” of a champion, we obviously take into account the number of times the latter has been played in a game, but also the number of times he has been banned. by one team or another. In this way, it could happen that certain characters accumulated a 100% attendance rate, such as Kalista and Pantheon in the 2017 World Championships, which had been banned in absolutely all parts of the event.
Regarding the professional competitive games taking place during the 12.11 update, three champions stood out with a particularly high attendance rate:
Champion | Presence | picks | Bans | Win rate |
wukong | 96.8% | 46 | 46 | 59% |
Lucian | 95.8% | 18 | 73 | 47% |
Gwen | 93.7% | 25 | 64 | 50% |
The most attentive will have noticed that there have not been many changes since patch 12.10 and its supposed big changes in durability. Only Ahri, the nine-tailed fox of the midlane, saw her popularity rate drop to 74% attendance. However, it is worth noting that champions exceeding 95% attendance rate are systematically nerfed by Riot Games, which should happen soon for Wukong. Also note that the trio has absolutely nothing to do with the characters who inflict the most damage in the game, further proof that this stat is not crucial to winning your games.
monkey king
During this patch 12.11, it is therefore Wukong who wins the prize for the most popular character on the professional scene. With his 96.8% presence, he has accumulated as many bans as picks, for a win rate of 59%. So the Monkey King obviously seems way too strong at the moment, despite his recent nerf.. Riot Games will therefore certainly have to take out the surgical gloves and the scalpel again to come and make changes to this champion who dominates both competitions and ranked matches at all levels from Platinum.
Purifier
He is both the second character with the most presence and the one who seems to be the most feared by professional players with his 73 banishments in a single patch, Lucian easily wins the title of terror of the botlane of this season resumption. Fortunately, Riot Games will not have taken long to find a solution since the ADC has already been nerfed in the brand new patch 12.12 released recently. With his 51.75% of wins in classic games, it was obvious that he deserved to be revised downwards for the entire League of Legends community, pros and beginners alike.
Sacred Seamstress
If Gwen does not reach the symbolic threshold of 95% presence, she still alone accumulates 64 banishments. Already problematic in previous patches, Riot Games is definitely having a hard time solving the Seamstress problem. It must be said that despite its certain popularity on the professional scene, she struggles to exceed 46% wins in classic matches above Platinum. The developers therefore find themselves with a difficult case, since amputating it too severely could make it completely useless outside of high-level matches. Gwen players could therefore expect to see their character change slightly in terms of some of her spells, like a slight overhaul of gameplay, for example.
