Game News Gears of War could soon return and follow in Halo’s footsteps!
In 2006, Epic Games gave birth to one of the best-known video game licenses with Gears of War. In 2014, the franchise was bought by Microsoft, which entrusted the development of new games to The Coalition. The studio extends the success of the license with Gears of War 4 and Gears 5, but we are now waiting for the sequel.
Gears of War: while waiting for Gears 6…
The Coalition recently said that we should not don’t expect any news anytime soon, but behind the scenes, things are moving forward. Microsoft has announced the upcoming removal of the map editor from Gears 5, the automatic unlocking of related achievements but above all, of many positions are now available within the team dedicated to Gears.
In other words, the studio has started work, or is about to do so, on the next installment in the series. But how allow the license to live in the meantime the publication of a new game? This could go through the publication of remastersa rumor that has been going on for many months without the studio giving the slightest clue.
A compilation like Halo: The Master Chief Collection?
But the rumor has just resurfaced, on the occasion of the latest episode of the XboxEra podcast. The show’s co-host, Nick Baker, brought up the subject again, saying:
Remember there was a rumor a while back where I said there was another Microsoft franchise getting the Master Chief Collection type treatment? I think it will happen this year. (…) Maybe it will be their “E3” announcement.
While it doesn’t directly mention Gears of War, the show’s replay, broken down into sections, does indicate “Oh, Gears Collection?”. The first episode was already entitled to a remake with Gears of War Ultimate Edition in 2015, but the following two episodes were never made available on PC. With a collection similar to Halo’s Master Chief Collection, players could experience slicked-back versions of the franchise’s first games and/or play Gears of War 2 and Gears of War 3 for the first time if they’re on PC. and thus wait for the arrival of the next opus.
We even talk about the integration of the opus Gears of War Judgment, a spin-off quite useful to complete the few opaque areas of lore. It remains to be seen if this compilation really exists, and what its features will be. Indeed, the Master Chief Collection, beyond the content it offers, allows you to switch from the old rendering to the new with the press of a single buttonwhich had made a lasting impression.
