Thus, the marketing of the MMO had simply been stopped in response to the enthusiasm of the players which undermined the servers of the game.. To accompany this decision, the Japanese publisher took care to apologize and announce improvements.
Meanwhile, Square Enix has found itself in the news for quite other reasons, namely its desire to get involved in NFTs: a decision that was far from unanimous to MMO fans. Now that things have settled down, Square Enix can focus again on following up on its video game hit and, according to the publisher, Final Fantasy XIV is at the center of good news: the game will be back on the market very soon!
More than a month off for FFXIV
As always, it’s Naoki Yoshida, the producer of Final Fantasy XIV, who took the stage to make a statement that will delight the many players who are eagerly waiting to try their hand at the MMO and its new expansion, Endwalker. According to him, their plan to solve the server congestion problem is taking shape, so much so that a roadmap could be planned. However, Yoshida recognizes that there are some points that still require work and other adjustments, such as job rebalancing.
Despite these slight drawbacks, on which the teams are hard at work, Final Fantasy XIV will make a comeback since digital sales of the game will resume from next January 25, from 9 a.m. French time. Nevertheless, Yoshida quickly calms the ardor by specifying that if excessive and repeated server congestion were to reoccur, the suspension of sales would again be decreed. At the same time, the publisher is continuing its data center expansion work, which will be spread over several months.
Also suspended, the transfer service will be operational the day after the resumption of marketing, i.e. Wednesday, January 26. However, congested servers will not be selectable as part of a transfer, but Square Enix is planning, with patch 6.1x, to allow players to travel between Worlds located in data centers of the same region.
Once again, Naomi Yoshida has apologized for the delays and difficulties in accessing servers. According to him, this decision was essential and their objective to increase the capacities of the servers is an important step to provide players with the best possible gaming experience in FFXIV “.
