PS4 and PS5: what big games in 2022?
In a recent post published on its blog, PlayStation wanted to take stock of the 2022 releases with 22 games to follow this year. The top 4 is dominated by upcoming releases: Horizon Forbidden West (February 18), Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection (January 28), Elden Ring (February 25), and Dying Light 2: Stay Human (February 04).. Without being exhaustive, we note the presence of big games for after the month of February: God of War: Ragnarok, Forspoken, Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin or even Gran Turismo 7. And PlayStation also gives pride of place to independent studios, with in particular the presence of Stray, Sifu or Little Devil Inside
Final Fantasy 16 and the missing Harry Potter game?
While the list is made up of very promising games, it can’t hide the absence of some expected games like Final Fantasy XVI and Hogwarts Legacy: Hogwarts Legacy. What to fear a release for 2023? Without ensuring that the games will not be released this year, we will wait for an official communication for this, it must be admitted that certain coincidences can raise doubts. Regarding the Harry Potter game, it was expected in 2021 before being postponed to 2022. A year which seemed favorable for the release of the game, since a thinking head from Warner mentioned its publication after the third film of the Fantastic Beasts. But just this weekend, it’s the podcast host Sacred Symbol Colin Moriarty who indicated that the game “would have problems and would have been postponed to 2023. A finding that also applies to Final Fantasy XVI: at the end of 2021, the producer of the title then declared that the “development of the game took five to six months behind schedule“and that the team was fine-tuning the game.
Obviously, all this is only speculation and we will wait for the words of the studios concerned to be sure. For example, we know that Square Enix will give news of Final Fantasy 16 in the spring of 2022. Regarding Hogwarts Legacy, we will have to wait, especially since no PlayStation event has yet been announced by the firm.
