News hardware Do you find the iPhone 13 too expensive? The iPhone 14 will be even more so
A few months before the arrival of the iPhone 14, rumors accumulate and we approach leaks which are often validated during the official announcement. Unfortunately, this info concerns a potential price increase of the next models, justified by a finally improved front camera.
The iPhone 14 would take better selfies…
It was the South Korean IT News site that said yesterday: Apple will change the manufacturer for its front camera and turn to LG Innotek, a Korean company. In recent years, the front sensor of iPhones has stagnated a little with almost no real improvement, unless the “Slofies” (slowed video selfies) matter to you…
Tim Cook & Co. therefore want to move up a gear, the partnership with LG Innotek being initially planned for the iPhone 15 of 2023. Except that too many quality problems encountered on the iPhone 13 pushed the Apple to speed things up .
LG Innotek is already Apple’s preferred partner for its rear photo sensors, which stood out on the iPhone 13 and should be even more powerful on the next version.
IT News does not stop there and explains that this change of manufacturer is also a necessity for Apple in terms of the novelties they want to bring to the iPhone 14. Indeed, an analysis of LG Innotek’s industrial strategy would show two potential additions to the front camera:
…but the iPhone 14 will be more expensive
Several informants have already predicted an increase in the price of the next iPhone, but we may have the explanation. IT News predicts a threefold increase in manufacturing cost of the front camera module, compared to the iPhone 13.
This is clearly not good news, but we know that Apple often favors the quality of their products and rarely forgives on the final prices (and on their margin). The brand was the first to exceed €1000 with the iPhone X in 2017.
The other manufacturers followed, and as long as sales follow, Apple should have no problem inflating the bill a little, which already goes up to €1,839 for the iPhone 13 Pro Max with 1 TB of storage.
All iPhone 14 would be involved in this price increase and these photo improvements. But one wonders if there will be any differences between the classic versions and the iPhone 14 Pro, particularly with the change in design of the notch of the Pro versions.
