First announced during BlizzCon 2018, Diablo Immortal is finally set to release imminently, as its launch date is now set for June 2.. However, initially, the title had been particularly badly received by spectators during its very first presentation. It must be said that originally, the public of Blizzard played above all on PC and seeing one of their favorite franchises land on PC surprised more than one, and not in the best way.
The mobile, new El Dorado for Blizzard?
However, almost four years since its formalization, the title has continued to be developed discreetly by the Blizzard teams, until it is presented in the current state that we have seen through various recent trailers. Today, this particularly tense moment of BlizzCon 2018 seems really far away since the game is now planned for both mobiles, both iOS and Android, and PC. A rather wise decision in the end because in any case, it was obvious that many players were only going to experience the title through an Android emulator on PC, as is very common with most mobile games.
Since then, we can also understand the interest for Blizzard to offer a free-to-play Diablo experience on several media, just to face the particularly popular competitors who have appeared in recent times. Very clearly, Diablo is no longer the king of hack’n’slash as it was several decades ago since today it has to face rivals who have managed to enter the era of time. If Path of Exile was able to satisfy the purists of the genre with absolutely gargantuan content and almost infinite builds, Lost Ark also monopolized the attention of many players for a good while, despite some server problems. In this context, Diablo Immortal obviously has a lot to prove and it will need more than the prestige of its name to succeed in imposing itself against such competition.
